Journey to the Super-O Principles
This refers to the Zen concept of developing a state of mind of openness and enthusiasm without preconceived ideas. The fact is most people are firmly convinced they know everything there is to know about masturbation and orgasm. And while this may be true of an ejaculatory orgasm it is certainly not the case with the Super O. Ironically, this belief can be one of the biggest stumbling blocks in ones journey. It’s very important to fully accept the journey to the Super O on its own terms, as a new experience that will require new learning. As you will learn the power of the mind also plays a role in this. Mental focus and attentiveness are key components to amplifying the perception of sensation and channeling erotic energy in the body.
To fully embrace a totally new experience, it’s essential to distance yourself from old and familiar methods that don’t apply. The truth is, many of the standbys that are key ingredients for building an ejaculation; harder, faster, tighter, longer can stop a Super O dead in its tracks. This is not to say, that one must abandon the ejaculatory path entirely. To the contrary, ejaculation is very often seen as an important punctuation of ones Super O exploratory sessions. One that marks the conclusion of the Super O session with an ejaculatory finish using traditional masturbation. The critical point to understand here is that these are two differently processes that must be approached differently. For example, roller skating and walking are two different forms of transportation, and if you ever tried to walk on skates….you found that out quickly. Each requires a unique type of movement. The Super O requires a unique approach also, one that utilizes, among other things, a set of muscles that people seldomly think about. It also requires a different mindset. Unlike an ejaculation, Super O’s are not forced….they are encouraged and allowed to happen.
Another element is the role of setting expectations for oneself. While setting expectations and goals are a normal part of most other learning processes, they’re counterproductive when it come to the Super O journey. Why? Because unlike other types of learning there is not one specific path with specific steps to the Super O, there are multitude of both. To add to this, some of these steps will involve involuntary muscle contractions and such movements are not always predictable. Second, as mentioned previously, the Journey involves a coordination of mind and body that takes time to achieve. Laying expectation on yourself amounts to expending energy in the wrong direction and is an effective way to psych yourself out, so it is best to avoid it. Delaying gratification goes hand in hand with letting go of expectations. It’s understandable that most men would have a little difficulty with this, since their bodies are pre-programmed for immediate gratification in the form of a traditional ejaculatory orgasm. But the Journey requires the ability to delay gratification, that is, a willingness to forego Super O’s for some period of time while you are learning new things about your body. Again, this doesn’t exclude you from having traditional orgasms, just that you accept that there may be some time when this new orgasm isn’t available to you.
There are number of other factors that can adversely affect your progress. Religious or cultural taboos, heterosexual preconceptions about anal/prostate play and homosexuality etc. are things that can play on the mind in a negative way. If any of these things apply to you it’s best to try and resolve them before proceeding as they may impede your Journey.
As mentioned before, some men will require time and learning in order to achieve a Super O. This most often will involve a “prostate awakening”. Awakening the prostate refers to the process of making it more accustomed and more responsive to physical stimulation. To begin with, the perception of prostate stimulation may range from little or nothing to a vague sense of internal pressure normally associated with the need to urinate. As stimulation is gradually introduced, this leads to a stronger perception of sensation. As one become more accustomed to this sensation it gradually becomes pleasant. Ultimately it comes to a point where prostate stimulation is arousing.
As you can see, prostate awakening is the key intermediary step which not only involves sensory nerve receptivity… but the interpretation of the new sensation by the brain.. as something arousing. For most people this will be a learned response, hence the term “rewiring” that you will see written about in our forum and on other sites dedicated prostate pleasure. Once some of this rewiring occurs and the prostate is awakened, stimulation has the effect of building arousal all the way to orgasm (Super O).
As with any new endeavor, getting yourself set up properly is one of the keys to success. While Super O sessions can be undertaken with a partner, it’s most practical as a solo activity. The primary reason is this will be a time of learning and personal discovery, a time where the weight of expectation wherever it might be, must be avoided and give way to openness and acceptance of new experience. This includes concerns about performing for or pleasing a partner. Rest assured, there will be time for that later.
Setting up the scene is a worthwhile practice that is concerned with making sure you will have time that is undisturbed and free from distractions. It also involves setting yourself up for anal/prostate play. Some people prefer to precede their sessions with an enema for internal cleansing. While it’s not strictly necessary, (particularly if you have regular bowel habits), it can give an extra level assurance that there will be no mess. A shower or bath is a wonderful way to relax and clean externally and is strongly recommended. For most users a bed will be the location for sessions. Make sure to have an area of the bed covered with a towel, in case of lube spillage. Speaking of lube, make sure to invest in a good quality water-based personal lubricant if you are using any of our silicone coated products. These products include the Syn Series, VICE2 and SYN V massagers. (Use of silicone or mineral oil based lubricants will damage these products and void your warranty). All of our other products are usable with all types of personal lubricants.
If you’re new to anal/prostate play introducing the massager inside your body will be an important step. While there are a number of positions that one can use, lying or your back or side are best to start with. Apply a liberal coating of lubricant to the massager from head to stem, grasp the arms of the device and direct it toward your anus and begin to use the head as if it were a brush, making the exterior of your anus wet with lubricant. (Re-lubricate the massager as necessary). Orient the massager, so when it’s tilted upward and the head points towards your navel. Now begin to gently massage your anus with the head of the massager, up and down or from side to side. After a minute or two, start to use strokes that include shallow penetration. Spending some time on this step facilitates penetration and adds to the sensual nature of the experience. The use of a deep inhale and exhale is a great way to aid relaxation also. Apply more lubrication as needed. Slowly start to work the massager in and out of your anus with progressively deeper strokes. Note that the anal canal is about an inch to an inch and a half in length and is bordered by two sphincters (muscles for opening and closing), one that is external and one that is internal. Once inside the external sphincter, massage the anal canal and inner sphincter using a gentle in and out motion, taking a deep inhale and exhale. After a minute or two you will feel the inner sphincter relax under your pressure…at this moment the Aneros’ tapered shape will allow it to become self-inserting. At this point, the body of the massager will be inserted all the way down to the stem and the external arms will come to rest on your perineum (the area between your scrotum and anus) and on an area just below your tailbone, an acupressure point that we refer to as the K-spot.
If you’re experienced with anal/prostate play, you may want to skip this next step. If you’re new to anal/prostate play, now is a good time to relax and allow your body to become accustomed to the presence of the massager. For the time being, avoid any anal contractions, just relax. Are you feeling tension or tightness in your anus? If so, slowly and deeply inhale and then exhale. As you exhale, close your eyes and think about your anus relaxing as the air leaves your body. Wait 30 seconds and then repeat. For some people it may be helpful to use relaxing imagery in their minds…like floating on a raft in a warm pool of water. Take your time and make sure you are fully relaxed before proceeding farther.
If you’re relaxed and feeling ready to go, it’s time to tune into your body and find your grounded state. With your eyes closed, mentally focus on everything that you are feeling in your pelvic region. Without any stimulation, without any contractions, without touching your penis or your body in any way, focus on each area separately. Can you feel the external tabs of the Aneros pressing against your perineum and the area under your tailbone? Can you feel the stem of the Aneros inside your anal canal? (Again, no touching, no contracting!) Can you feel the head of the massager touching your prostate? Inhale deeply and expand the area below your navel (your lower diaphragm) and as you do, visualize that area filling with air. Exhale and visualize the air leaving your body through your rectum. Note any sensations you are feeling in your belly or deep in your rectum as you do this. Note any sensations you’re feeling in your prostate, or on your perineum or below your tailbone. From here on in, being mindful, that is having a conscious sensory awareness of all of these areas of your body, will be an important element in your Journey.
Some people may have found the previous exercise stimulating. If you’re one of those, good for you! If not, don’t worry because the main purpose behind it is to relax you and get you to focus inward in order to establish some foundational level of conscious sensory awareness. Going forward you will use this level as basis of comparison to judge the effect of stimulation, the strength of sensation and the perception of arousal. At this point you should be using no penile stimulation (more about this later). With your eyes closed, start with a small anal contraction, say 20% strength, holding for 2 to 3 seconds and release. Focus on the sensations. What are you feeling? Focus on the sensations at the moment of contraction. Focus on the sensation at the moment of release. Compare them. Are you aware of increased pressure and/or a release of pressure on your perineum? Can you feel the body of the Aneros sliding deeper into your rectum as you contract and sliding back outward as you release? Do you feel the increased pressure and a release of pressure on your prostate as you contract and release?
If this was uncomfortable for you, take several minutes to return to your ground state using the breathing and relaxation techniques above and once there, try an even smaller level of contraction. If this is still uncomfortable, use the same procedure scaling down the strength of your contraction as necessary. Once you reach a level of a comfortable contraction scale up slowly.
Was the 20% contraction comfortable, pleasant or did you feel nothing at all? If any of these apply, try more contractions of the same strength and see if stimulation at this level can maintain sensation or amplify it. Again, be mindful of any changes in sensation at any location on your body. If you should notice an upgrade in sensation, mentally focus on it and observe any changes as you contract once more. Work with this for a while, being mindful of the contraction and the release and see where it takes you. While you may have the temptation to increase the strength of your contractions, thinking that it will create stronger sensation, know that it’s not necessarily so. (More about this later). Be sure to reflect on any pleasant sensations that come your way. This is part of the journey that should be savored. Occasionally you may experience pleasant sensation of an extended length that occurs as a wave (P-wave). Savor these as well and receive them with openness and perhaps an encouraging contraction or two. While the tendency will be to follow up with a strong
contraction, start small and scale up to see what works best for you. Perhaps this may trigger another such wave, perhaps not. If it does, continue following the P-wave with voluntary contraction….this is the essence of building prostate arousal.
If you come to point where you feel stalled, upgrade your contraction to say, a 40% level going through the same process. Incrementally increase the strength of your contraction being observant along this way of any changes that may occur. If there is any discomfort at any point, return to your ground state, that foundational level that you started with.
While it’s possible to produce pleasant sensations using maximum strength (100%) contractions, know this, they rarely produce Super O’s, when used by themselves. Remember the prostate is not a penis, so it doesn’t respond to stimulation in the same way your penis does. Building prostate arousal is a different process. In the case of a traditional arousal, the kind that leads to an ejaculation, the path is simple… add more stimulation, the stimulation creates stronger sensation and the stronger sensation creates greater arousal. The Super O is quite different in this regard. The addition of stronger stimulation may not increase sensation and if it does, the sensation may not increase arousal. Know this as well, unlike the penis, the prostate can be over-stimulated leading to a decrease in sensation. There are examples of types of movement that we’re all familiar with that might help illustrate this point. For instance, a playground swing, to gain height you must kick your legs up at specific time namely at the top part of the swinging motion. If you do this at the midpoint (when you’re closest to the ground), you will disrupt the rhythm of swing and lose momentum. This holds true regardless of the amount of force you use. Flying high on a swing comes down to the application of force combined with the proper timing. Likewise with the Super O, the timing of a contraction is equally important as its strength. In fact, there are often instances where the contraction’s timing is more important than its strength, so take time to explore this. For most users precursor sensations for the Super O occur at a low to moderate level of contraction. For many people the initial sensations are very subtle, so subtle they might be missed if you are not paying attention. The Super O is a story of small beginnings building into a much larger experience. It’s like the process of creating a snowball in your hands and rolling it around on the ground until it increases to a size where where it rolls down a hill by itself. If you experienced pleasant sensations of any kind during any of this, then continue on this path using low level to moderate level contractions punctuated by the occasional stronger contractions to mix things up. Again, avoid any penile contact whatsoever.
While it may be difficult for some people to adjust to, penile stimulation can be highly counterproductive to one’s Journey to the Super O. Why? Remember that the ejaculatory pathway is the dominant arousal pathway and penile stimulation is a main element in that. Using any kind of penile stimulation will have the tendency to short-circuit any erotic energy generated from the alternate pathway, back into an ejaculatory orgasm. Building arousal for a Super O involves far more subtle levels of sensation to begin with, sensations that can be obliterated by a simple stroke of your penis. For this reason, it should be avoided by individuals who are at the early stages of prostate awakening, that is by folks who are experiencing pleasant sensations from prostate stimulation already.
For some advanced users, the penile prohibition may not be necessary. Why? There are some users who over time become very skilled with manipulating erotic energy in their bodies. Such folks are able to have Super O’s at will and can use a variety of different kinds of stimuli to generate them, including penile stimulation.
What about people who feel little or no sensation from prostate stimulation? For such individuals the use of Sensory Seasoning is usually the best way to kick things into gear (see below). If that’s unsuccessful, then, and only then, penile stimulation may play a role. In this instance, it’s not used as method for generating a Super O per se, but as way of awakening the prostate. In this roundabout method the individual combines prostate and penile stimulation and traditional masturbation techniques to amplify an ejaculatory orgasm. Doing so makes the user more accustomed to prostate stimulation. Once there is some success with this, the user doubles back to explore prostate stimulation without penile stimulation.
This refers to the use of supplemental forms of stimulation to enhance prostate arousal. Perhaps the best example of this is nipple stimulation. People with prostates who enjoy nipple stimulation have a distinct advantage in this regard. Nipple stimulation is a powerful amplifier of both traditional orgasms and Super O’s without influencing the direction the orgasm will take. With regard to use for the Super O, it can generate sensations that can be felt deep in the pelvis and has the added benefit of being able to trigger involuntary contractions of the pelvic floor muscles. If you are not nipple sensitive and would like to try it, it’s something that can be trained, over a period of time, by coupling it with traditional masturbation.
Other seasonings include testicular stimulation, auricular stimulation, massage of the lower abdomen (between the pubic bone and navel), focused breathing, KSMO, viewing erotica etc.
Up until now, for the most part we’ve been discussing the role of voluntary muscle contractions in arousal. That is, muscle contraction consciously controlled by your will. There’s a second type of contraction that is not consciously controlled called involuntary contraction. While there are muscles that are specific for each, the anal sphincters and those of the pelvic floor group are under voluntary and involuntary control. Most people are aware of this relationship with respect to a traditional orgasm. You stimulate your penis with your hand (voluntary) until you ejaculate. Ejaculation involves numerous involuntary contractions, the prostate, the seminal vesicles, the testicles, the urethra and the anus.
Involuntary contractions play a pivotal role in prostate arousal and the Super O too. While voluntary contractions get things started, it’s involuntary contractions that take things to the next level. Their presence normally indicates a very high state of prostate arousal that often signals the imminence of a Super O. The can occur with or without pleasurable sensation and they will normally continue through the duration of Super O as well. Aneros devices are responsive to both types of contractions, but it’s their response to involuntary contractions that makes them so unique. While involuntary contractions most often occur as a result of voluntary contraction, Aneros devices make it possible for involuntaries to perpetuate themselves. With an Aneros massager in place, the involuntary contraction becomes the source of power that drives stimulation. Aneros massagers work in harmony with the body delivering simultaneous stimulation to 4 erogenous zone in response to every contraction. This allows the body to essentially respond to itself over and over again. Under the right
circumstances this creates what is known as a positive feedback loop with stimulation, sensation and arousal that inevitably leads to the Super O. Bear in mind, these involuntary contractions may be obvious, spastic movements that force the Aneros into sudden in and out motion, or they may produce a very subtle fluttering of the muscles that cause the Aneros to wobble and vibrate in the body.
So how do you make them happen? The fact is you can’t force involuntary contractions. By definition, they are out of your control. They are your body’s own reflexive response to stimulation and arousal. What you can do is encourage them, facilitate them and allow them to occur. There are number of methods for approaching this. The first is the one described earlier; relaxing, becoming mindful, adding stimulation and building arousal through voluntary contractions. This involves finding the right combination of mental focus, proper intensity and timing of your voluntary contractions. This is a semi-passive process that will require some time and exploration, but it's one in which transformative learning and rewiring can eventually occur.
A second method involves a more aggressive approach that seeks to use voluntary contraction in order to fatigue the pelvic floor muscles into involuntary contraction. While this is a less popular technique that borders on forcing the process, when it’s used in moderation (particularly in conjunction with the previous method) some users have found success with it.
A third method utilizes a totally passive approach, essentially ignoring the presence of the Aneros massager until random involuntary contractions produce stimulation. This has been used during waking and sleeping states to some success, but because it relies on random stimulation, it may not allow for the user to build any kind of a roadmap for the future. What it may do, is to expose the user to the experience a Super O for the first time which some users have utilized as a “sense memory” to focus on.
The information and techniques presented above constitute a fraction of the knowledge base that is available in the Aneros Forum.
Ultimately, achieving a Super O is a product of coalescing all the information you will receive in a way that is meaningful for you. As you travel down this path and achieve greater awareness of your body remember, your path is unique to you and so it will be with the Super O.
